13.8 Least
Cost
Routing
Least cost routing (LCR) is a feature that automatically selects the least
expensive way to connect an external call.
The LCR feature can be accessed by dialing the Least Cost Routing
Access Code (LAC).
By using LAC you will automatically be routed over the least expensive
route available. You cannot choose the route yourself, this is done auto-
matically by the LCR feature.
Note:
The least expensive way is not always the shortest distance.
13.8.1
Making an Outgoing Call using LAC
To make a call using LAC, do the following:
H.323 Phones
1)
Lift the handset.
2)
Dial the LAC.
If provided, a dial tone is received.
3)
Dial with the external number.
If no free trunk is selected, you will hear a busy tone.
You enable on-hook queuing by dialing the suffix digit for callback
to the busy route.
If the selected route is marked as expensive, you will receive an
Expensive Route Warning Tone which enables you to stop further
call routing.
4)
Replace the handset to end the call.
SIP Phones
1)
Lift the handset.
2)
Dial the LAC and tap the
Call
button.
If provided, a dial tone is received.
