Inspect for loose bolts and bent or damaged parts.
Inspect Housing (A) for distortion, cracks, or other damage.
Inspect the Swivel Eye (B) for distortion, cracks, or other damage. The Swivel Eye should be attached
securely to the SRL, but should pivot freely.
The Lifeline (C) should pull out and retract fully without hesitation or creating a slack line condition.
Ensure device locks up when lifeline is jerked sharply. Lockup should be positive with no slipping.
The labels must be present and fully legible (see Figure 13).
Look for signs of corrosion on the entire unit.
Snap Hook
(Figure 10)
Inspect the Snap Hook for signs of damage, corrosion, and proper working condition.
Lifeline Webbing and Stitching
(Figure 11)
Inspect webbing; material must be free of cuts (A), frays (B), or broken fibers. Check for tears,
abrasions, heavy soiling (C), mold, burns (D), or discoloration. Inspect stitching; Check for pulled or
cut stitches. Broken stitches may be an indication that the harness has been impact loaded and must
be removed from service.
Energy Absorber
(Figure 12)
Inspect the Energy Absorber to determine if it has been activated. There should be no evidence of
elongation and the cover should be secure and free of tears (A) or other damage.
