AFTER A FALL:
If this equipment is subjected to fall arrest or impact forces, remove it from service immediately. Clearly
tag it “DO NOT USE.” See Section 5 for more information.
2.0 INSTALLATION
2.1
Assemble Steel Outrigger Base:
See Figure 3. Position the Main Center Base in the desired location. Set the two
Outrigger Legs in place and attach with the supplied 1/2” hardware. Torque hardware to 60 ft-lb (81 N-m).
2.2
Install Drive Over Guards :
See Figure 4. Position the drive over guards. Attach with the supplied 3/8” hardware.
Torque hardware to 45 ft-lb (61 N-m).
2.3 INSTALL THE M100 JIB BOOM ON THE BASE:
See Figure 5. Lower the M100 Jib Boom onto the Hitch Ball Post of the
H-Base.
1. LUBRICATING THE MAST :
See Figure 6. Apply grease to the grease fitting located on the Mast.
2.4 TRANSPORTING THE SYSTEM:
See Figure 7. The system may be transported using the Lifting Channels (B) located at
the bottom of the base. Before transporting, position the upright in the desired angle. Lower the Locking Pin (A) to lock
the rotation of the Jib Boom during transport.
;
Do not transport the system without the Rotation Lock Pin inserted.
;
Do not transport at speeds exceeding 5 mph (8 kph).
;
When transporting the System, be aware of overhead obstructions and electrical hazards which may result in
serious injury or death.
3.0 USE
3.1
BEFORE EACH USE:
Verify that your work area and Fall Protection system meet all criteria defined in these instructions.
Verify that a formal Rescue Plan is in place. Inspect the system per the
‘User’
inspection points defined in the
“Inspection
and Maintenance Log”
(Table 2). If inspection reveals an unsafe or defective condition, or if there is any doubt about its
condition for safe use, remove the system from service immediately. Clearly tag the system “DO NOT USE.” See Section 4
for more information.
3.2
POSITIONING THE SYSTEM:
See Figure 8. Place the H-Base on a level resting structure meeting the strength
requirements called out in Table 1. Using the Level Indicators, check that the resting structure slope is within plus or
minus 1° from vertical in both directions of the base.
3.3
SAFE WORKING RADIUS:
The safe working radius of the Jib Base does not extend beyond the length of the Jib Base
itself. See Figure 9 for reference. When using the M100 Jib System, the user should remain within the indicated Safe
Working Zone (A). Leaving the Safe Working Zone to an Outside Location (B) is dangerous and could result in serious
injury or death. When working on either side of the M100 Jib System, keep the anchor point as close overhead as
possible. If a rotation stop is in place on the jib mount, never work past that rotation stop. See the User Instructions for
the M100 Jib Boom (5908371) for more information.
4.0 INSPECTION
;
After product has been removed from service, it may not be returned to service until a Competent Person confirms
in writing that it is acceptable to do so.
4.1
INSPECTION FREQUENCY:
The H-Base shall be inspected by the user before each use and, additionally, by a
Competent Person other than the user at intervals of no more than one year
5
. Inspection procedures are described in
the
“Inspection and Maintenance Log.”
Results of each Competent Person inspection should be recorded on copies of the
“Inspection and Maintenance Log.”
4.2
DEFECTS:
If the H-Base cannot be returned to service because of an existing defect or unsafe condition, then either
destroy the system or contact 3M or a 3M-authorized service center about possible repair.
4.3
PRODUCT LIFE:
The functional life of the H-Base is determined by work conditions and maintenance. As long as the
product passes inspection criteria, it may remain in service.
5.0 MAINTENANCE, SERVICING,
and
STORAGE
5.1
CLEANING:
Periodically clean the H-Base with a soft brush, warm water, and a mild soap solution. Ensure parts are
thoroughly rinsed with clean water.
5 Inspection Frequency:
Extreme working conditions (harsh environments, prolonged use, etc.) may require increasing the frequency of Competent Person inspections.
