Checklist for Setting up the Internet Firewall

This section lists the information that you need to set up
the Internet Firewall.

Cable Modem Users

If you are using the Internet Firewall with a cable modem,
you may need to register the MAC address of the unit with
your cable service provider before connecting the Internet
Firewall to your network. You can find the MAC address of
the Internet Firewall on a label on the underside of the unit.

Initial Configuration using the Internet Firewall Wizard

Please refer to the

Quick Start Guide

for information on

how to connect to your Internet Firewall. To access the
Internet Firewall Wizard, enter

http://192.168.1.254

or

http://my.3com.com

in the address box of your Internet

web browser.

The default configuration of the Internet Firewall is
designed to make the initial set up as easy as possible.
There are two options:

Router/Modem acting as DHCP Server

If you have a network where your Internet router/modem is
being used as a DHCP server then the Internet Firewall
Wizard requires minimal information.

The Internet Firewall Wizard:

automatically.
