Setting up the Internet Firewall 25 with an OfficeConnect 56K LAN Modem

Configure the OfficeConnect LAN modem and check that
you can access the Internet.

Connect the LAN Modem to the Internet Firewall 25.

a

Disconnect the power from the LAN modem, and also
disconnect the Ethernet cable from the PC that you used
to manage it.

b

Connect one of the LAN Modem’s Ethernet ports to the
WAN port on the Internet Firewall 25.

c

Connect the LAN port on the Internet Firewall 25 to the
hub or switch that all the PCs are connected together
through, or directly to one PC that you want to use for
managing the Internet Firewall.

Connecting the Internet Firewall 25 directly to one PC
reduces the risk that someone else on the network
configures the Internet Firewall before you have changed
the default password.

Switch on the Internet Firewall 25 and check the LEDS.

Wait for the Power LED to stop flashing (approximately
90 seconds).

Make sure that the orange Alert LED is also out when
the Power LED stops flashing. If the Alert LED comes on,
or the Power LED keeps flashing, see Chapter 6 for
troubleshooting information.

Reconfigure the management station so that it can contact
the Internet Firewall 25.

At the management station, change the TCP/IP settings
for the network card by setting the IP address to

192.168.1.200

and the subnet mask to

255.255.255.0

. Refer to the user guide for your

operating system for further instructions on how to do
this.

Do not change any other settings because they are not
needed at this stage. Restart the PC.

At the management station, launch your web browser
(Netscape 4 or Internet Explorer or above) and log in as the
administrator.
