Upgrading the EME Module to Release 3.0.5
107
c
Install EME boot software, version 3.0.0. For instructions, see
“Installing EME Boot Software” later in this chapter. (Do not reinstall it
if this version already exists on your module.) After the module
finishes resetting, go to the next step.
CAUTION:
When the module resets during this step, a switchover in EME
status occurs. The module that used to be Secondary becomes Primary.
Leave it this way for now, even if you do not want this to be the final
configuration; you can switch the EME module hierarchy later, but it is
important to complete the entire upgrade process first.
d
In order to continue the upgrade process, if you have only had one
connection to your system (the old Primary EME module), disconnect
it now and move the cable to connect to the new Primary EME
module.
e
Follow this step ONLY if you have upgraded any piece of software thus
far on either EME module from 2.1 to 3.0.0 or from 2.1 to 3.0.5
(otherwise, skip to the next step):
■
Flush the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) table on the PC
management station from which you connected to the EME
module.
■
Flush the ARP table on the TFTP server from which you downloaded
software to the EME module.
■
Ping the server or management station to verify that you are
connected properly.
The MAC addresses of the EME were changed in release 3.0. The
process of flushing the ARP tables on the management station and
TFTP server makes these devices relearn the new MAC addresses.
f
Install EME operational software, version 3.0.5, onto what used to be
the Primary EME module but is now the Secondary EME. For
instructions, see “Installing EME Operational Software” later in this
chapter. After the module finishes resetting, go to the next step.
g
If you upgraded the EME operational software from release 2.x to
release 3.0.5, repeat step 3e again (flush the ARP tables on your
management station and TFTP server). Otherwise, ignore this step.
The upgrade process is complete.
