INTERCOM SIMPLEX / DUPLEX OPERATION

ALL UNLIMITED FAN LINKS CAN OPERATE IN BOTH MODES

SIMPLEX OPERATION

When operating in "simplex" mode it means that it is in "one way" mode. Press

your PTT button and start talking and the other party has to wait until you are

finished talking and release your PTT button before they can press their PTT

button and say something back to you. A very slow conversation of one way
communicating back and forth.

DUPLEX OPERATION

Duplex operation is when both (or all) parties can talk and hear the other parties

at the same time. Your telephone system is a "duplex" system. Both parties can
converse rapidly and it speeds up the conversation.

"UNLIMITED" FAN LINKS  CAN OPERATE AS SIMPLEX OR DUPLEX
SYSTEMS. IF ALL PARTIES HOLD THE PTT BUTTON DOWN WHEN

SOMEONE STARTS TALKING EVERYONE CAN TALK AND HEAR AT
THE SAME TIME.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

SINGLE SCANNER INPUT OPERATION

When operating the Intercom System using two headsets and a single scanner

(input) the toggle switch (located on the left ear cup) must be in the UP position
(ALL) on BOTH HEADSETS.

TWO SCANNER INPUT OPERATION

When operating the intercom system using two headsets with a scanner plugged

into each headset you must have the toggle switch on BOTH HEADSETS set to
the DOWN (ISO) position.

To see arrangements for multiple headsets and inputs see the reverse side of
this page.

INTERCOM IS BATTERY POWERED

Outside the RIGHT EAR CUP (on the back bar) OF EACH HEADSET is a 9 volt

battery located in a black "stretch pouch" that powers the intercom system. It

only operates when the PTT (push-to-talk) button is pressed. Manufacturer

reports that the battery should last about a year. We always recommend on any

battery powered device that you ALWAYS have a spare battery for each headset

at all times. We recommend that you use alkaline batteries – longest run time
and shelf life. See instructions inside this booklet for changing the battery.

CABLES – 3 PIN UMBILICAL CABLE

You should route the cables where they are the most convenient for your seating

arrangement (these cables can plug into either side of the headset). There is no

need to have cables hanging across your chest and arms connected to your
partner.

ADDITIONAL HEADSETS CAN BE ADDED

Extra headsets can be added to the system at any time. Each additional headset

comes complete with umbilical cable and a scanner input cable. See our website
for current prices.
