DESCRIPTION

The Red Lion pressure tank leaves the factory tested and pre-pres-
surized. Because air and water are permanently separated, an air
volume control is not required.
When the pump starts, water enters the tank as system pressure
passes the minimum pressure pre-charge. Only usable water is
stored. When the pressure in the chamber reaches the pressure
switch’s cut-out pressure, the pump stops. (The pressure switch is
usually installed on the pump.) The tank is filled to the maximum
capacity. When water is needed again, pressure in the air side
pushes the water in the system.
The pressure tank is a closed container. The durable steel shell is
constructed in a deep-drawn process for extra strength. Welding
eliminates interior rough spots and sharp edges, which prevents
damage to the diaphragm. The tank uses a membrane diaphragm
to completely isolate compressed air from the water. This diaphragm
is made from Butyl approved for portable water by DIN4807-3. The
inside of the tank is painted with a corrosion-resistant epoxy coating.
An air charging valve allows the installer to change the air pressure.
The tank has international approval for use with potable water, and is
approved by IAPMO PS 88 95 e WRC.

SAFETY GUIDELINES

This instruction sheet contains information that is very impor-
tant to know and understand. This information is provided for
safety and to prevent equipment problems. To help recognize
this information, observe the following symbols:

CAUTION - Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, that,
if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE - Indicates important information that, if not fol-
lowed, may cause damage to equipment.

WARNING: READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.

Read instructions carefully before attempting to install, operate, or
service the Red Lion pressure tank. Know the applications, limita-
tions, and potential hazards.

WARNING:

Be sure that electric power to the pump or control box is

disconnected before installing or servicing this tank or water system.

WARNING:

Installation must be in accordance with local or state

plumbing codes.

WARNING:

Be sure to protect the tank, piping, and all system

components from freezing temperatures. Protect the tank from
intense cold by never exposing it to outside elements.

WARNING:

The tank is designed for operation on well water sys-

tems limited to the maximum operating pressure indicated on the
tank. A 75 PSI safety relief valve must be installed. Failure to follow
these instructions can result in serious personal injury or death.
Red Lion does not accept any responsibility for damage or injury
resulting from improper installation or operation of this tank.

WARNING:

Do not disassemble the pressure tank.

WARNING:

Read and observe all the notices on the products.

WARNING:

Never exceed the maximum operating temperature

and/or the maximum allowed pressure indicated on the tank.

CAUTION:

Before installing, determine the suitability of the prod-

uct for the intended use. User assumes all risk and liability of the
application.

WARNING:

To guard against equipment damage and/or personal

injury, observe safety precautions and use suitable equipment
when moving the tank.

WARNING:

Failure to install a relief valve may result in property

damage, serious personal injury, or death. Red Lion does not
accept any responsibility for damage or injury resulting from
improper installation or operation of this tank.

WARNING:

Do not install this tank outdoors, but only in a closed

and well-ventilated area, far from heat sources, electric generators,
and any other source that may be detrimental to the tank.

WARNING:

The tank is designed for operation on well water

systems. Do not use the tank with hot water, chemicals, solvents,
petroleum products, acids, or any fluids that may be detrimental
to the tank.

WARNING:

Do not use this tank with water containing sand, clay,

or other solid substances that may damage the tank or the tank’s
diaphragm and/or clog its connection. This tank is to be used for
storage of well water. Solids in your well water including sand and
clay may damage your tank and void warranty.

INSTALLATION

WARNING:

This is a diaphragm-type pressure tank for use on a well

water system. Do not exceed the tank’s maximum operating pres-
sure. Protect the system with a suitable 75 PSI relief valve. Failure
to install a relief valve may result in tank explosion in the event of a
system malfunction, resulting in property damage, serious personal
injury, or death. Red Lion does not accept any responsibility for
damage or injury resulting from improper installation or operation
of this tank.
  1.  If this tank is replacing a steel galvanized tank, remove existing

air volume controls, and remove or plug any bleeder valves,
snifter valves, etc.
