WIRING
BANJO SIGNAL
INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Have an adult strip one quarter inch of
insulation from both ends of the three
wires included with the Banjo Signal, if
they have not already been stripped.
Connect the wires to the Banjo Signal,
contactor and transformer as shown in
Figure 2. To connect the wire to the termi-
nal clips, press down the springy upper
half of the metal loop until the lower part
projects through the slot, insert the bare
wire end into the loop, and release the
upper part of the clip. Spring tension will
hold the wire tight. (See Figure 1).

The Banjo Signal can be placed at any grade crossing on your model railroad layout to give warning
when a train is approaching the crossing. The Banjo Signal uses a No. 690-153C-001 Contactor which is
activated by the weight of the train passing over it. Attach the contactor to any section of straight track.

INSTALLING THE CONTACTOR
Slide the contactor beneath the track so
that one of the track ties rests firmly upon
the top pressure plate. (See Figure 1). If
your layout is fastened to a board or plat-
form, loosen several sections on either
side of the contactor. The track must be
able to bend under the weight of the train.
For the same reason, the contactor may
not work properly when placed next to a
track switch.
