INSTRUCTIONS (ENGLISH)

Congratulations on your purchase of Zoo Med’s REPTIBATOR

®

 Digital Egg Incubator. The following

instructions will assist you with the programming and setup of this unit. Please read the following

instructions carefully before using your new incubator. If you have any questions regarding these

instructions or the proper use of this item, please contact our customer service department at:

[email protected].

FEATURES:

• Digital controller with LCD display and LED heat indicator light.
• Pulse proportional thermostat for stable temperature regulation.
• Temperature control range from 15°C to 40°C.
• Humidity display range from 10% to 95% relative humidity.
• Rigid 55 watt heating element.
• Programmable temperature alarm.
• Built in memory stores settings in case of power failure.
• Clear cover allows for easy egg inspection without opening incubator.
• Multiple water reservoirs molded into incubator base. Flow-through ventilation and sponge insert

allows for even evaporation and proper humidity levels within the incubator.

Your new REPTIBATOR

®

 is made with a state-of-the-art

pulse proportional thermostat.

 Instead of

simply turning the heater on and off based on the temperature set point, the pulse proportional ther-

mostat supplies power as needed in a series of electrical pulses to maintain a constant temperature

inside the incubator. When the incubator has reached the set temperature, the LED heat indicator

light will occasionally fl ash as the heater receives short pulses of electricity to maintain this tempera-

ture. This conserves energy and prevents against high and low temperature cycles associated with

traditional on/off type thermostats.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

IMPORTANT: In order to reduce the risk of fi res, electric shock, or personal injury, read and

save these instructions prior to operation.

• Use only with a 230 V, 50 Hz. grounded outlet.
• DO NOT stretch or strain the power cord connected to this device.
• DO NOT allow heavy objects to rest on any of the REPTIBATOR

®

 components or power cord.

• DO NOT immerse any of the REPTIBATOR

®

 components in water.

• DO NOT allow direct water contact with the REPTIBATOR

®

 controller.

• DO NOT operate the unit with a damaged cord, plug, or other component.
• DO NOT alter or modify this product. Contact an electrician if you are unsure about the electrical

connection.

PROGRAMMING THE CONTROL UNIT:

Upon plugging in your new REPTIBATOR

®

Digital Egg Incubator for the fi rst time, the digital display

will illuminate. Once the controller has been programmed, the new settings will be stored in the con-

troller’s memory. In the event of a power failure, or if the unit becomes unplugged, the programmed

settings will resume once power is restored.* There are three functions that can be programmed on

the REPTIBATOR

®

: the

temperature scale (°C or °F)

, the

temperature setting

, and the

alarm setting

.

PERFORM THE FOLLOWING STEPS TO

PROGRAM YOUR NEW INCUBATOR:

1. CHANGING THE TEMPERATURE SCALE (°C OR °F)

The controller can be set to display the temperature in degrees Celsius  or degrees Fahrenheit. If the

controller is already showing the desired temperature scale, skip this step and proceed to step 2. To

select the desired temperature scale (°C or °F), press and hold the up arrow button

, and then

press the down arrow button

 to change the temperature scale.

2. PROGRAMMING THE TEMPERATURE SETTING:

To program the desired temperature setting, press the up arrow button

 to enter the temperature

programming mode. The current temperature setting will show on the display along with the word

“HEAT”. Press the up

 or down

arrow buttons until the desired temperature setting is

reached. Press the button once to adjust the temperature by 0.1 degree Celsius or one degree Fahr-

enheit. To move rapidly through the numbers, press and hold the up or down arrow button. After fi ve

seconds of no activity, the controller will exit the programming mode and return to the normal display.
Upon programming the temperature setting on your REPTIBATOR

®

, the temperature inside the

REPTIBATOR

®

may rise above the set point during the initial heating cycle and stabilization period.

After a short time, the temperature will drop and stabilize at the set point.

DO NOT

 place eggs inside

the REPTIBATOR

®

until after the temperature has stabilized at the set point.

Note: The temperature shown on the display is the temperature that is read at the sensor housing

inside the incubator. If the eggs are not directly under the sensor, the temperature at the location

of the eggs may be slightly different. To check the temperature at the location of the eggs, place a

thermometer in the incubator at the desired location and allow the temperature to stabilize. Compare

the reading at the thermometer to the temperature on the display and adjust the setting accordingly.
Your REPTIBATOR

®

should be placed in a room with a stable temperature that is lower than the

desired temperature inside the REPTIBATOR

®

. Avoid rooms with large temperature fl uctuations. Do

not place the REPTIBATOR

®

near a window or in direct sunlight.

3. PROGRAMMING THE ALARM SETTING:

When programmed, the alarm function will alert you when the temperature in the REPTIBATOR

®

 is

above or below the programmed setting. When the alarm is triggered, the LCD display will fl ash, along

with the letters “TEM” and the

symbol. When the temperature rises above or falls below the

programmed temperature by the set number of degrees, the alarm will activate causing the controller

screen to fl ash. For example; if the temperature setting of the REPTIBATOR

®

 is 28°C, and the Alarm

Setting is 02 (two degrees), the alarm will be activated if the temperature rises above 30°C or falls

below 26°C. When the alarm is set to “00” it is disabled.
To program the desired alarm setting, press the down arrow button

 to enter the alarm program-

ming mode. The current alarm setting will show on the display along with the letters “TEM” and

the

 symbol. Press the up

 or down

arrow buttons until the desired alarm setting is

reached. Press the button once to adjust the temperature by one degree Celsius or Fahrenheit. To

move rapidly through the numbers, press and hold the up or down arrow button. After fi ve seconds of

no activity, the controller will exit the programming mode and return to the normal display.

HUMIDITY DISPLAY:

Maintaining adequate humidity during incubation is critical for hatching success. Your REPTIBATOR

®

Digital Egg Incubator is equipped with a hygrometer to measure

relative humidity

, and is located

in the sensor housing just behind the controller. The relative humidity inside the REPTIBATOR

®

 is

indicated by the smaller set of numbers on the right side of the display under the label:

HUMIDITY

(%RH)

The relative humidity level inside your REPTIBATOR

®

can be increased by one or more of the

following methods:

• Moistening the sponge included with your REPTIBATOR

®

.

• Adding water to one or more of the water reservoirs in the base of the incubator.

Ventilation is provided by a series of small holes and slots in the REPTIBATOR

®

. Air is drawn into the

REPTIBATOR

®

through the small holes in the base, and then out through the ventilation slots along

the top edge. As air fl ows gently through the incubator, water inside the incubator will evaporate and

the relative humidity will increase.
