A buffer tank is required for all hydronic heating systems using OptiHeat heat pumps. The tank should be sized to
provide a minimum of 2 gallons of storage capacity for every one thousand Btuh’s of nominal heat pump capacity. Sizing in
this manner will provide the proper amount of heat pump cycling and storage.
