4.6 Saving to Flash Memory
This function writes the data in the RAM to the flash memory of the Adapter Unit. Settings for the connected
slave devices and for Ethernet will be saved.
By changing the DIP switch setting of the Adapter Unit to make it start from the flash memory (setting switch 5
of the “SW1” DIP switch to OFF) and restarting the Adapter Unit power supply after saving the data to the flash
memory, the Adapter Unit can be started in the same status as that which applied when the data was saved to
flash memory, when the power is turned on the next time.
• Procedure
1. Select
Adapter - Save to Flash...
from the main menu.
The
Save to flash
dialog box appears.
2. Click
Start
.
Saving of data to the flash memory starts. When the process is completed, the dialog prompting normal
completion of saving to the flash memory appears.
3. Click
OK
.
4. Close the
MECHATROLINK-III ADAPTER Configuratin Tool
window.
5. Change the DIP switch setting of the Adapter Unit to make it start from the flash memory (setting switch
5 of the “SW1” DIP switch to OFF) and restart the Adapter Unit power supply.
The data in the RAM of the Adapter Unit are written to the flash memory.
• After saving data to the flash memory, always change the DIP switch setting of the Adapter Unit to make it
start from the flash memory and restart the power supply to the Adapter Unit.The data in the RAM of the
adapter unit cannot be written to the flash memory unless the power supply is restarted.
• The message “Saving to the flash memory has failed.” is displayed when saving to the flash memory fails.
Check the DIP switch settings and try saving to the flash memory again.
