Lubrication

1)

Remove the spark plug(s). Spray a
“Yamaha Stor-Rite Engine Fogging
Oil” into each cylinder for 5 seconds.
Grease the spark plug threads and
reinstall the spark plug(s) and torque
to proper specification. (Refer to
“CLEANING AND ADJUSTING
SPARK PLUG”.)

2)

Turn the engine over with the stop
lanyard disconnected to work the fog-
ging oil into the piston rings.

3)

Fill the oil tanks. This prevents the for-
mation of condensation. For models
with a remote tank, it may be neces-
sary to manually override the control
unit to completely fill the engine main
tank. (Refer to Filling Oil section).

4)

Change the gear-case oil. (Refer to
“CHANGING GEAR OIL”). Inspect the
oil for the presence of water which
indicates a leaky seal. Seal replace-
ment should be performed by an
authorized Yamaha dealership prior
to use.

5)

Grease all grease fittings. (Refer to
“GREASING”)

EMU00352

Cleaning and Anti-corrosion Measure

1)

Wash down the exterior of the out-
board with fresh water and dry off
completely.

2)

Spray the engine’s exterior with
“Yamaha Silicone Protectant” (Part
No. LUB-SILCNE-13-00).

c

C

Do not spray when the engine is running.
Also, do not spray near the silencer and
oxygen sensor cover or into the engine.
Otherwise, the oxygen sensor for
Electronic Fuel Injection system could be
damaged.
