TIP
An oil filter wrench is available at a Yamaha
dealer.
12. Apply a thin coat of engine oil to the O-
ring of the new oil filter cartridge.
TIP
Make sure that the O-ring is properly seated.
13. Install the new oil filter cartridge with an
oil filter wrench, and then tighten it to the
specified torque.
14. Install the engine oil drain bolts and their
new gasket, and then tighten the bolts to
the specified torques.
15. Add 2.0 L (2.11 US qt, 1.76 Imp.qt) of the
recommended engine oil to the oil tank.
16. Check the O-ring of the cylinder head
cap for damage, and replace it if neces-
sary.
17. Install and tighten the oil filler cap and the
cylinder head cap.
18. Start the engine, warm it up for several
minutes, and then turn it off.
19. Remove the oil filler cap, and then add
sufficient oil of the recommended type to
raise it to the “H” level mark on the dip-
stick.
NOTICE:
When adding the en-
gine oil, be careful not to fill above the
“H” level mark on the dipstick. Use
only the recommended oil. (See page
110.) Make sure that no foreign mate-
rial enters the engine oil tank.
