MD8 Applications
MD8—Owner’s Manual
MIDI Home Studio
In this system, acoustic instruments are recorded to the MD8, while MIDI instruments are
controlled by a MIDI sequencer, which receives MTC or MIDI Clock from the MD8. Since
the MIDI sequencer provides repeatable playback and is synchronized to the MD8, the MIDI
instruments need not be recorded until the final mixdown. A monitor amp and speakers
are used for monitoring, supplemented with a pair of stereo headphones. An optional foot-
switch allows hands free recording and playback control. A compressor/limiter is patched
into INSERT I/O on channel 1 to provide a more consistent vocal level. Aux signals are fed
to two effects processors and returned to the MD8 via LINE INPUTs 9–10.
