MOTIF XF Extension Installation Guide

These are basically the same as those of the Cubase series (Cubase 5/Cubase Studio 5/Cubase Essential 5/Cubase AI 5) 

Version 5.1.1 or later as a host application. Regarding Mac OS, only Mac OS 10.5 or later is supported.

Preparing to install

Before installing, you will need to properly install the driver software to use MOTIF XF Extension. Make sure to install the USB-

MIDI Driver software when connecting the MOTIF XF6/7/8 to your computer via a USB cable, or to install the Yamaha Steinberg 

FW Driver software when connecting the MOTIF XF6/7/8 to your computer via an IEEE1394 cable.

Installing the software

Follow the instructions below to install MOTIF XF Extension.

When the “User Account Control” window appears on Windows Vista/7, click [Continue] or [Yes].

n

Make sure to install this software under the “Administrator” account.

Double-click the “Install MOTIF XF Extension 32bit.exe” / “Install MOTIF XF Extension 64bit.exe” file extracted 
from the compressed file downloaded from the Yamaha web site.

Click [Next] on the “Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Yamaha MOTIF XF Extension” window called up in 
step 1.

n

“Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Yamaha MOTIF XF Extension 64bit” will call up in the 64bit version of MOTIF XF Extension.

n

If an older version of MOTIF XF Extension has been installed in your computer, the software should be updated. (The procedure is the 
same as that of installing it from scratch.)

Install the software by following the on-screen instructions. 

n

You can select a specific type of templates for MOTIF XF6/7/8 by selecting “Custom” on “Setup Type” window during the installation 
process. When installing the 64-bit version, select the desired setting of 32-bit, 64-bit, or both versions, according to the specifications of 
your Cubase series.

Click [Finish] when “Completed” appears.

Uninstalling the software

Follow the instructions below to uninstall MOTIF XF Extension.

In addition to the instructions below, you can uninstall the software by double-clicking “Install MOTIF XF Extension 32bit.exe” or “Install 
MOTIF XF Extension 64bit.exe,” selecting [Delete] then clicking [Next] on the maintenance window.

 [Add or Remove Programs] to call up the “Add or Remove 

Programs” window.

Click [Change or Remove Programs] located in the upper left of the window, then select “Yamaha MOTIF XF 
Extension” from the list in the right panel.

Click [Remove].

Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the software.
