Before installing any spark plug, measure the
electrode gap with a wire thickness gauge
and adjust to specification.
When installing the spark plug, always clean
the gasket surface. Wipe off any grime from
the threads and tighten the spark plug to the
specified torque.

Make sure that the spark plug caps are se-
curely installed. Otherwise the spark plug
caps could be damaged due to engine vi-
bration.

Adjusting the engine idling
speed
1.
Place the snowmobile on a level surface
and apply the parking brake.
2.
Remove the shroud, the left and right
side covers, and the top cover. (See page
46 for removal procedures.)
3.
Start the engine and warm it up.
4.
Remove the headlight unit bolts, and then
lift up the headlight unit.
5.
Turn the idle adjusting screw in or out to
adjust the engine idling speed.
6.
Install the headlight unit, making sure to
fit the slots on its bottom over the projec-
tions on its stay.
7.
Install the headlight unit bolts, and then
tighten them to the specified torque.
8.
Install the top cover, the left and right side
covers, and the shroud.
Spark plug gap:
0.7–0.8 mm (0.028–0.031 in)
Spark plug tightening torque:
12.5 Nm (1.25 m·kgf, 9.0 ft·lbf)
