The VX-5R ’s display includes several unique customization options which can expand
your enjoyment of your transceiver.
I
CON
M
ODE
The display’s alphanumeric labels can be replaced by pictorial icons, which may be easier
to remember during operation.
To activate the I
CON
mode, press and hold in the
[5(AP)ICO]
key for one second. The display
will change to incorporate the default icons, as stored in the microprocessor's firmware.
You can also modify the Icon which represents a particular operating function.
ICON Selection
•
Press the
[F/W]
key, then press the
[BAND(SET)AR]
key to enter the SET Mode.

Rotate the
DIAL
to select Menu Item #4 (“
ICON ICON

”), then press the
[BAND(SET)AR]
key momentarily.

Turn the
DIAL
to select the desired band or
mode on which you wish to utilize an Icon,
then press the
[BAND(SET)AR]
key mo-
mentarily.

to select the desired Icon to be
displayed in place of the regular indicator.

The S- and TX Power Meter is a “bar graph” type of display. The default “

which is used for this meter may be replaced by several other symbols, if desired.

of the character (letters and numbers) in the “bar graph”.

Rotate the DIAL to select the character in the first digit, then press the
[BAND(SET)AR]
key to move to the next digit.

Repeat previous step as necessary to complete, pressing the
[BAND(SET)AR]
key
after each entry.

When you have made your choice, press the PTT key to save your selection and exit to
normal operation.
