4.3.2 General electrical requirements
The XOLTA Outdoor BESS has been designed for connection to low voltage three-phase 400V AC
50Hz electrical grids. However, the system can also be connected to grids with other voltage levels
if appropriate power/voltage transformers are in place to match the required voltage.
All installation and commissioning work must be carried out by a certified electrician. Any subsequent
changes or modifications performed by unauthorized personnel are strictly prohibited and could
compromise safety.
NOTE!
Residual current device (RCD) is not required. If there are site-specific reasons for requiring such an
installation, then ensure the device detection/trip points are >1A for a single inverter configuration.
Contact XOLTA support for further advice.
4.3.3 Communication requirements
A XOLTA BAT-80 outdoor system consisting of one or multiple battery racks, external meters and
other peripherals communicates via PDS-CAT-6 cables from each device to a central switch securing
inter-rack communication and communication to the XOLTA cloud via the internet.
Battery racks use DHCP to acquire an IP address. Optionally: reservation of the IP addresses can be
managed in the router.
NOTE!
It is important that meters are connected within the same subnet and with fixed IP address allocation,
static or via reserved IP in the router.
4.3.4 Installation with and without renewables
The block schematics in Figure 4.3 and Figure 4.4 depict a typical installation of the different types
of XOLTA Outdoor BESS unit racks with and without solar panels.
