Connection
Important
- Before connecting to the battery, check that the inverter is
turned off.
- When the battery is connected a spark may be generated due
to the internal capacitor being loaded.
- Do not connect a AC source to the output of the inverter. This
will cause extensive damage to the inverter. A good option is to
mount the PTS 230-20, which automatically switches between
inverter and mains or generator. See page 16.
Preferably use the supplied cable set. The ES 300 includes clamps
for connecting to the battery. If you want this inverter to have a
permanent connection to the battery, we recommend replacing the
clamps with terminal rings. For the other models, the connections
to the battery already consist of terminal rings. With the heaver
models two red and two black cables are included. In this case,
always connect both cables on the + and - side!
If you wish to use your own cable set, select the correct cable
thickness corresponding with the length and power. Keep the
connecting cables as short as possible and ensure the connections
make good contact.
Connect the red cable to the + input on the inverter and the black
cable to the – input. Fix the other end of the red cable to the + pole
of the battery. Do the same with the black cable to the – pole of
the battery. Make sure that you connect the correct cable to the
correct pole! The internal fuses will be blown of you reverse the
poles on the inverter. In this case, the inverter must be returned to
the manufacturer for repair and inspection, and the repair costs are
not covered by the guarantee.
Grounding
The AC output ground wire should go to the grounding point for
your loads (for example, a distribution panel ground bus ).
