3.4  Loading an LTO Cartridge

 

 

3.4.1 

Ensure that the Ready Light shows steady green. 

 

3.4.2 

Check that the Write Protect Tab on the LTO cartridge is in the desired position. 

 

3.4.3 

Slide the cartridge into the cartridge load compartment as shown below.

If  the cartridge is  already in  an  ejected  position and  you  want to  reinsert it,  remove the 
cartridge fully and then reinsert it using the procedure described above. 

 

   

If the cartridge is already loaded and you cycle the power (i.e. you turn the power off and 
then on), the cartridge will reload. 

 

3.5  Ejecting an LTO Cartridge

 

 

3.5.1 

Wait until the system has completed all read and write operations. This is indicated by the 
Ready Light which shows steady green. 

 

3.5.2 

Press the Cartridge Unload Button on the front panel of the LTO drive or use XenData6 
Workstation to initiate an eject command. 

 

3.5.3 

The tape drive will rewind the tape to the beginning and then partially eject the cartridge. 
This  may  take  several  minutes.  The  Ready  Light  will  flash  to  indicate  that  the  unload 
process is still in progress. 

 

3.5.4 

After the cartridge partially ejects, grasp the cartridge and remove it.
