WSI AV-300/350 Installation Manual
Note 10.
No Connection – Pins identified as “No Connection” must not have an external
connection. It does not mean that there is no internal connection to that pin. Any
external connection to a “No Connection” pin could cause permanent damage to the
AV-300/350 receiver and will void the warranty.
Note 11.
Mute – The AV-350 receiver always powers up with the audio mute disengaged.
Asserting either of the optional Mute inputs will toggle the state of the audio mute. The
Mute- (pin 14) input is asserted with a connection to ground. The Mute+ (pin 55) input
is asserted with a connection to a positive voltage (b5V and aircraft battery
level).
Note 12.
Reserved for future use, do not connect.
Note 13.
Signal Grounds – The signal grounds are interchangeable. Although the wiring
diagram indicates a specific signal ground pin number, any signal ground may be used.
Note 14.
Audio Suppression – This input is grounded to suppress audio from the AV-350
receiver and must be connected to the audio suppression output of any higher-priority
devices such as TAS, TCAS, and TAWS.
Note 15.
Diagnostic Port (Optional) – The diagnostic port is used only during ground diagnostic
activities. For in-flight operation the Rx pin (pin 51) should be connected to signal
ground.
Satellite Antenna Connector (J1)
The satellite antenna connector is labeled J1 on the AV-300/350 receiver. It is a 50
Ω
TNC
connector. Use 50
Ω
coax with TNC connectors on each end to connect between J1 on the
receiver and the satellite antenna.
Remote Control Antenna Connector (J2)
The remote control antenna connector is labeled J2 on the AV-350 receiver. It is a 50
Ω
BNC
connector. Use 50
Ω
coax with BNC connectors on each end to connect between J2 on the
receiver and the remote antenna. The remote control antenna connector adapter is used to adapt
from the BNC connector on the cable to the Reverse Polarity SMA (RP-SMA) connector on the
remote control antenna.
It is acceptable to install the remote control antenna without using the connector adapter;
however it is the responsibility of the installing agent to select a RP-SMA connector that is
appropriate for the type of 50
Ω
coax being used. In this case the selected RP-SMA connector
would be installed at the remote control antenna end of the 50
Ω
coax instead of a BNC
connector.
