STANDARD FEATURES
BATTERY LAYOUT AND MANAGEMENT
The 270 SD is equipped with two batteries which are located in the aft rigging compart-
ment. They can be reached using the access hatches located on the aft transom wall beneath
the livewell and fishbox. A dedicated cranking battery is installed on the port side. The battery
installed in the starboard compartment controls both the starboard engine and the house
accessories. Positive leads from each battery run to the battery select switch located in the star-
board rigging compartment, The engine cranking leads are run from the switch and the engine
ground is secured to the battery on its respective side (see diagram below).
The starboard battery provides the power for all your DC accessories. The main lead con-
nects to a 50 amp breaker located in the starboard rigging compartment, and is routed forward
to the console. The master power switch located at the console controls the flow of current to the
digital control system and accessory fuse block on your boat.
During normal operation, alternate the battery switch between position #1 and #2 to keep
each bank charged. In the case of an emergency, you can choose “BOTH” to draw power from
both batteries to crank the engines. The main ground for all DC accessories is tied into the
common ground on all batteries (see diagram below).
