Monitoring / Readjusting the remaining play
The play x between the thrust member and
the brake magnet (18) is reduced with
increasing lining wear. It must therefore be
checked and readjusted at regular intervals.
If the linings are worn down to such an
extent that the remaining play x has been
reduced to 0.8 to 1.0 mm, the play needs to
be readjusted.
•
Slacken the locknut (17) und adjust the remaining play
x = 2
+0.5/-0.8
mm coarsely (magnet switched off, arma-
ture rod of the magnet pushed completely into the
magnet; check the remaining play with a feeler gauge).
•
Then switch on the brake magnet (18) via the associat-
ed brake control unit (pull rod completely moved out,
brake shoe lever tilted upward to stop), adjust the
clearance between the brake shoes (4) and the friction
surface (7) to 0.15
+0.1
mm. Do this by adjusting the
screws (16) and secure the setting with locknut (17).
An optimum setting is achieved when the clearance is
small. Therefore, the lower limit should be aimed at.
•
Switch off (deenergise) the brake magnet (18) and
check the remaining play "x" using a feeler gauge
(x = 2
+0.5/-0.8
mm). The maximum remaining play should
be aimed at. A 0.3 mm between the brake shoe (4) and
the friction surface (7) corresponds to approx. 1 mm
play of the magnet armature rod. The deflections of
the lever system are determined by the different forces
acting in the various types of lift machines.
If the remaining play is reduced to zero this
may lead to failure of the brake.
Adjusting the switch assembly
•
Attach the two switches (19, 20) loosely on the bracket
(32). Switch off the magnet. Push the armature com-
pletely into the magnet, insert a 0.5 mm feeler gauge
between the switch (19) and the contact member
(switch pushed into the casing), and fasten the switch
in this position.
•
Switch on the magnet, insert the feeler gauge between
the switch (20) and the contact member (switch pushed
into the casing), and fasten the switch in this position.
Switch off the magnet.
