SECTION 3
IN CASE OF DRIVING EMERGENCY
•
The 2-piece bolt for steel wheels has a rotat-
ing “ball” washer, dull grey finish and is
61.6 mm (about 2 3/8”) long.
Be sure to use the proper bolt for the wheel
you are mounting.
Wheel Lug Bolt Torque:
Use a calibrated
torque wrench to tighten the lug bolts to
117-143
ft. lbs.
TIRE CHANGING SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS
Before attempting to change either the front or
rear tires, the following precautions should be
heeded:
1. Park vehicle on level surface only.
2. Turn off engine and set parking brake.
3. Activate hazard warning flasher.
4. Block both front and back of wheel opposite
wheel to be removed.
5. On soft ground, use a board or other material
under jack as a firm base to ensure that the
jack will not shift.
RECOVERY TOWING
See Volkswagen owner’s manual for proper
recovery towing procedures.
Winnebago Industries does not assume
responsibility for damage incurred while towing
this vehicle.
NOTE: Know and obey all state and local towing
regulations. Tow at reduced speed.
If mounting a steel wheel in place of
an aluminum wheel for any reason,
you must use the shorter steel wheel
lug bolts to avoid interference with
non-moving parts.
Likewise, if mounting an aluminum
wheel in place of a steel wheel, you
must use the longer aluminum wheel
lug bolt to ensure proper thread
engagement.
WARNING
Do not crawl under the vehicle when
it is supported by a jack.
Stay out from beneath the motor
home while it is suspended by the
towing assembly unless the vehicle is
adequately supported by safety
stands. Do not allow passengers to
occupy a towed vehicle.
