6. Welding Log and Tables
When angles have to be w elded, the w elding surface of the pipes and thus the necessary
pressure is changing.
The necessary pressure is calculated as follow s:
•
Gather the prescribed value for adjusting or cooling pressure from the table.
•
Multiplicate the pressure value w ith factor 1/cos (angle).
This produces the follow ing factors:
Welding 15°
(Pipes chamfered for 7.5°):
1.01
Welding 22.5°
(Pipes chamfered for 11.25°):
1.02
Welding 30°
(Pipes chamfered for 15°):
1.04
Welding 45°
(Pipes chamfered for 22.5°):
1.08
Welding 60°
(Pipes chamfered for 30°):
1.15
Welding 90°
(Pipes chamfered for 45°):
1.41
•
Add the movement pressure as usual.
The other welding parameters remain as noted in the table.
6.1. Welding Segmented Bends
Calculation of the saw ing angle (equivalent to the necessary angle at the clamping devices or
reducer inserts):
Angle of the bend
Saw ing angle =
Numbers of all w elding surfaces
Example 1:
Bend of 90° out of 4 pieces (6 w elding surfaces)
90°
Saw ing angle = = 15°
6
Example 2:
Bend of 45° out of 3 pieces (4 w elding surfaces)
45°
Saw ing angle = = 11.25°
