Measuring Categories
The maximum allowable input voltage is 480 V AC and may not be
exceeded.
The measuring category
I
is intended for taking measurements on
circuitry not directly connected to the power mains.
The measuring category
II
is intended for taking measurements on
low-voltage circuitry. Examples for this are household appliances,
mobile electric units or similar equipment.
The measuring category
III
is intended for taking measurements on
house installations. Examples are distribution boxes, circuit
breakers, wiring, terminal strips, connectors, switches, and wall
sockets of the fixed installations, but also for measurements on
industrial units and equipment such as permanently installed
motors.
The measuring category
IV
is intended for taking measurements on
the source of the low-voltage installation e.g. electric meters or
measuring on the primary fuses. This unit is not designed for
undertaking measurements in measuring category
IV
.
