3.3 Before Installation Task List
There are several tasks that should be accomplished prior to installing the
Lynx
radio system. This
section briefly describes the following:
- Site selection
- Line-of-Sight and Path Clearance determination
- Anticipated RSL calculation
- Fade margin calculation
- Availability calculation
- Frequency plan determination
- Power supply planning
- Antenna (and accessories) purchase
Only directional antennas should be used with Lynx radios. These
can be grid or solid parabolic antennas (minimum 2 foot - .6
meter). Flat panel antennas are also acceptable if the beam width
is kept to a minimum.
3.3.1
Site Selection Requirements
The radio site must have:
- access to the appropriate power
- close proximity to the telephone or computer system you wish to interconnect
- line-of-sight to the other radio location with adequate clearance
- location for mounting the antenna
