Fig. 5.7: Functions of the production switch
5.5 Pre-commissioning check
Prior to
first
commissioning and after prolonged periods of non-operation (e.g. company holiday or transport)
the ice cube maker should be
cleaned
(see chapter 7.1), and checked and its proper function testified by a
specialist.
5.6 Commissioning
Open the water shut-off valve and start the ice cube maker (switch the production switch in position “Produktion
ein/on”). Ice cube production starts automatically.
5.7 Functions of the production switch
The production switch on the front side of the ice cube maker fulfils several functions, which are relevant for
operation and also for service, interruptions to operation and for cleaning. The individual functions can be taken
from the following description:
Position “Produktion ein/on”:
Setting the production switch to Position “Produktion ein/on”, starts
ice cube production automatically (if the power plug is inserted).
The ice cube maker generates ice cubes until the storage
container is full. The level of ice cubes in the container is
automatically regulated by means of a thermostat. When the
maximum filling level is reached in the storage container, ice cube
production ends automatically and starts again automatically after
the desired number of ice cubes have been removed.
Position „Service“:
This position of the production switch allows the position of the ice
cube water trough to be varied.
This switch position is only needed by trained service personnel in order
to carry out maintenance and repair work.
The switch position is without significance for operation of the ice
cube maker (start or interruption of ice cube production) and for routine cleaning by the operator.
Position „Produktion aus/off“:
During pauses in operation which last more than 2-3 days, the ice cube maker should be taken out of operation
as a matter of course
CAUTION: power voltage is still connected!
This allows you to save electricity and
water. In addition, the residual water from the last ice cube preparation process should be completely emptied
out of the trough. This is strongly recommended for reasons of hygiene during periods when the equipment is
not in operation.
When cleaning the ice cube maker (in particular the trough and the water level sensor), switch position
“Produktion aus/off” should also be selected. This makes access to the trough easier and enables faster and
more effective cleaning (see Cleaning Instruction, chapter 7.1.1).
CAUTION:
For hygiene reasons, the ice cubes from the first two production cycles are not suitable for
consumption. Please remove them from the storage container.
6. Operation
6.1 Operating principle
At the start of the ice-making process, the trough is filled with water via the fresh water supply tube. An
electronic water level control device ensures that only the actually required amount of water is supplied.
Once the trough is filled, it is set in motion by the trough motor. This generates a controlled wave movement of
the water.
The evaporator is located above the trough, with 'evaporator fingers' reaching into the trough. The water
freezes on the 'evaporator fingers' that are cooled by the refrigerant, causing ice cubes to form.
