Connection possibilities
The WCM-COM 1.0 home can only be connected via network cable. This is described in
detail below.
It may be advisable to consult a network administrator or IT expert to carry out this
configuration. Incorrect configuration of the router could leave the complete (home)
network being accessible by anyone on the Internet.
The WCM-COM communicates via http in the network, which runs unencrypted. Safety
relevant transmissions, such as https, are not possible.

Network – Ethernet
The WCM-COM is equipped with a network socket. This is used for direct connection on
site to access the local (home) network, and also for remote connection.
Direct connection

Make a connection between Laptop and WCM-COM using the network cable
provided.

The PC recognises the new network connection. The network address is obtained
within approx. 60 seconds and a connection is made.

This is a connection with “limited or no connectivity“ (possibly indicated by yellow
warning sign at the connection icon in the taskbar), which is correct for operation
with WCM-COM.
This connection serves as the communication basis for the WCM-COM.

Start page or password query (see Ch. 7.3) for the system connected is opened.
Direct connection by network cable offer a reliable way of testing the network connection
and the network capability of the WCM-COM. If the interaction of these components
which are included in delivery functions correctly when directly connected to a computer
or laptop, the surrounding network (router, switch, network cable, etc.) should be
examined if a connection is not made wirelessly.
