On the main screen, the
Connect
button allows communication with the device to start. The
software detects the presence of the
SMP
connected to the PC and it reads the registers of
measurements available in the device’s memory. It provides the following information for each
register: ID number, name (
Name
), time and date (
Date
), number of samples (
Samples
), type
of measurement (
Type
), the probe used to take the measurement (
Probe
) and lastly, whether or
not the measurements contain GPS positioning data.
If the software is unable to communicate with the
SMP
, check the connection between the PC
and the
SMP
. Ensure that the ‘
USB
Serial Port
’ associated with the
SMP
figures on the list of
COM ports. To do so, go to
Start / Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager /
Ports (COM & LTP)
. If the ‘
USB Serial Port
’ does not appear on the list of COM ports,
disconnect the USB cable and then reconnect it.
7.2.1
CSV exportation
You can select the registers to be downloaded by means of the selection box to the left of each
register or you can select all the register clicking on + sign above all the selection boxes.
Pressing the
Download Selected Register
button starts the download, with the name of the file
indicated by the user. A file is created for each register of measurements and it is assigned the
name
indicated_file_name – register_ID – register_name.csv
.
The downloaded files will be text files with the CSV format, containing the different samples
on separate lines and data for each sample separated by a semi-colon or a comma (depending
on the option selected in the menu Option). The first 8 lines comprise the heading, with
information on the software, the device, the probe and the measurement parameters.
