It's possible that after a hard nose-in landing that your motor may be knocked out of alignment. This usually results in the
motor being pushed back in the mounts and the propeller hitting the front of the cowling. This can be fixed easily.
❑
Remove the machine screw, flat washer and propeller from the propeller adaptor.
❑
Remove the four wood screws that hold the cowling in place. Set them aside, then pull the cowling off and set it
aside, too.
❑
You can readjust the depth of the motor by using a
phillips head screwdriver to loosen the four wood screws
that hold the motor in place.
❑
Once loose, realign the motor and retighten the screws
firmly. The front of the propeller adapter should be about
3" in front of the firewall.
❑
Reinstall the cowling and the propeller to double check the alignment. The propeller adapter should be centered
within the cowling opening and the propeller should not touch the cowling when it is turned.
Your Ezette RTF comes with a 14 tooth pinion gear (1.7:1 gear ratio) preinstalled. A second 12 tooth pinion gear (2:1 gear
ratio) is provided as an option. The 14 tooth pinion gear provides excellent overall performance with extra speed. Using
the 12 tooth pinion gear will decrease the overall speed, but will improve flight times.
❑
To change the pinion gear, remove the propeller and
cowling as described above.
❑
Use a hex wrench to loosen the set screw in the side
of the preinstalled pinion gear. Remove the gear and in-
stall the new pinion gear. Tighten the set screw firmly.
❑
Loosen the screws that hold the gear box to the mo-
tor and readjust the gear mesh. The 12 tooth pinion gear
has a smaller diameter, so you will have to move the gear
box down slightly. When satisfied with the alignment,
tighten the two screws.
❑
Rotate the propeller adaptor by hand. It should rotate smoothly and not bind. If it's binding, recheck the gear mesh.
