Do not use paraf in-bearing wood in your ireplace. When the door is closed, the
high degree of heat melts the paraf in out of the logs too quickly. Contaminated lue
gases resulting from this are deposited directly on the door panes, burn into them
and can no longer be removed.
Do not use wood that has been painted, impregnated, glued or otherwise treated.
The fumes are very harmful to the environment and can damage your
wood-burner. It is also forbidden to burn plastics and other waste because of the
toxic smoke.
Fuel
The WAN-2060 can only be ired with wood. Do not put more than about 1.3 kg of fuel in the burner at
a time. Always use clean, cut wood that is suf iciently dry. For drying times, see the table below.
Wet wood burns badly and causes excessive smoke. This can turn the window of your ireplace black
with soot. Soot particles (creosote) can also stick to the lue. This increases the risk of chimney ires.
Fresh wet wood, contains about 50% moisture. After drying for a year, split wood still contains 20%
moisture. After two years of drying, the moisture content has dropped to 12 to 15 per cent. Dry wood
gives an appealing lame and little or no smoke. During burning you can hear the wood crackling. Wet
wood gives a hissing sound, a lot of smoke and minimal lame. It signi icantly reduces the pleasure and
ef iciency of your ire.
