 7.

Only one person should be situated on the
ladder.

 8.

Look at the ladder when you climb up and
down.

 9.

Hold onto the ladder securely when you climb
up, down and are working.

 10.

Avoid excessive loading on the side, for examp-
le when drilling masonry and concrete.

 11.

Object which are transported by climbing a
ladder should not be heavy and should be easy
to handle.

 12.

Wear suitable shoes for climbing the ladder.

 13.

In terms of health, are you in a situation to use
the ladder? Use of the ladder under particular
health circumstances, medication use, or alcohol
or drug misuse may lead to a safety risk.

 14.

Do not work on the ladder for too long without
regular breaks (tiredness is a risk).

 15.

For transport of ladders on roof racks or in a
lorry, ensure that they are fastened or opened in
an appropriate way to prevent damage.

 16.

Before using, check if the ladder is suitable for
this particular use.

 17.

Remove all contaminants from the ladder, for

 18.

Do not use ladders outside in unfavourable
weather conditions (for example high winds,
ice, packed snow).

5.1 General safety instructions

5.1 General safety instructions

 20.

Beware of the risk of a collision when setting
up the ladder, for example with pedestrians,
vehicles or doors. Lock doors (however not
emergency exits) and windows in the work
area, if possible.

 21.

Assess all risks from electrical equipment in the
work area, for example high voltage overhead
lines or other exposed electrical equipment.

 22.

For unavoidable use under voltage or near to
electrical overhead lines, do not use ladders
which conduct electricity (for example alumini-
um ladders).

 23.

Do not use the ladder as a bridge.

 24.

The components of the ladder may not be
changed.

 25.

Never reposition the ladder during use!

 26.

Do not use ladders outside in unfavourable
weather conditions.

5.2 Use as a single ladder

 1.

The ladder must be put up in the correct set up
position, for example with the correct clearance
angle for single ladders (angle of inclination 65
to 75°), and rungs or tread must be flat.

 2.

Note the minimum projection using the positio-
ning point of the ladder.

 3.

Lean single ladders against flat, stable areas
and secure before use, for example put up fas-
teners or suitable fittings to guarantee stability.

 4.

Never reposition the ladder from above!

 5.

Do not use the highest three rungs of the single
ladder as a standing surface.
