2.1.1.3 Connectors

2.1.1.3.1 AS-Interface Cable

The AS Interface cable is connected using piercing technology.

When assembling the upper part, contacts are pressed into the cable which is
located in the ground plate, making the electrical contact.

The functional earth contact is also made during assembly of the upper part.

2.1.1.3.2 Sensor Connectors

Sensor connections are 5-pole sockets for M12x1 round plugs.

When using angled connectors, the socket design provides a connecting angle
of 45° (top left or top right) for the connecting cable.

The following table shows the pin assignment of the sockets.

Functional earth FE

Pin 5 of the sockets makes connection to functional earth. Four-pole plugs
without functional earth or 5-pole plugs with functional earth may be
connected.
Pin 2 of the IN 1 or the IN 3 socket is connected with Pin 4 of the IN 2 or IN 4
socket. This allows the connection of 2-channel sensors with the IN 1 or IN 3
socket. The IN 2 or IN 4 socket will then remain unconnected.

Warning

The inputs are DC coupled with the AS-Interface voltage. They shall not be
supplied with an external supply voltage!

Warning

Unused sensor connections must be sealed with protective caps!
