Group 23: Fuel System
General
P0006024
The fuel system is electronically controlled (EMS).
Fuel injection takes place via unit injectors, one per
cylinder, under high pressure. The high pressure is
achieved mechanically via overhead camshafts and
rocker arms. Control of fuel amounts and injection
timing takes place electronically via the engine control
unit (ECU), which receives signals from a number of
sensors.
The illustration shows the main components included
in the fuel system.
The engine is also equipped with a hand pump,
located on the fuel filter housing
1 Strainer, fuel gauge sensor
2 Feed pump
3 Fuel filter housing
4 Pre-filter with water separator
5 Venting valve
6 Fuel filter
