One-Pedal Drive and Regenerative Braking
Pure Electric Volvos come with a new mode of driving: One-Pedal Drive. This
mode allows the vehicle to recover energy through “regenerative
braking”
as
the throttle is released and the vehicle decelerates.

Regenerative braking is an
“energy
conversion”
technology. When
decelerating, kinetic energy that would otherwise be dissipated as heat
from the brakes is, instead, converted into electricity to charge the
vehicle’s
high-voltage battery.

With One-Pedal Drive engaged, the driver can still use the full power of
the mechanical brakes at any time via the brake pedal.
