Draining The Cooling System (Optional
Closed Cooling System)
Using a 9/16 inch wrench, loosing the lower heat ex-
changer cover bolt (
A ) approximately three turns but do
not remove.
With the cover bolt loose, turn the cover plate in either
direction to allow the water to drain from the heat ex-
changer.
After water has drained completely, tighten the heat
exchanger cover bolt.
Drain the raw water pump and exhaust manifolds in the
same manner as described previously in this section.

Impeller: Checking & Replacing
WARNING! If the engine is installed so that the
seawater pump is located under the water line
there is a risk of water penetration. Close the
seacock.
IMPORTANT! Always carry a spare impeller on board.
Remove the hose clamps and hoses from pump.
Remove the stationary bracket (1).
Remove the four screws and remove the housing (2).
Inspect the impeller (3). If there are cracks or other defects
the impeller must be replaced. Inspect the O-ring (4) for
nicks, cuts and wear. Replace as necessary.
Lubricate the pump housing with non-petroleum based
lubricant which is suitable for rubber such as soapy water
or glycerine
Reinstall the impeller. Reinstall the housing (2).
Install the hoses and hose clamps.
Mount the stationary bracket (1).
