• This instrument left the factory in perfect condition in terms of safety engineering.
• We kindly request the user to observe the safety instructions and warnings contained in the
enclosed operating instructions so this condition is maintained and to ensure safe operation.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the unit is not permitted for safety and
approval reasons (CE).
• Consult a professional if you are unsure how to operate the equipment or how to connect it
safely.
• The device must not be opened. Live parts may be exposed, when covers are opened or
parts are removed - unless you can do this by hand. Capacitors inside the device may still be
charged, even if the device has been disconnected from all power sources.
• Never touch the device with wet or moist hands. There is danger of a life-threatening electric
shock.
• Power supply units and connected loads must not be operated unattended.
• Only use fuses of the rated type and current. It is absolutely prohibited to use repaired fuses.
• Do not use non-insulated metallic leads.
• Keep the unit out of the reach of children. It is not a toy.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer’s Liability
Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Facilities are to be observed.
• In schools and training centres as well as at hobby and DIY workshops, the use of power
packs must be supervised by adequately trained personnel in a responsible manner.
• The device will warm up during operation. Ensure sufficient ventilation of the device. Do not
cover or seal the ventilation apertures of the device. Do not touch the cooling element on the
rear during operation. Risk of burns!
• Due to the variety of furniture protection products the base of the device may chemically react
with the surface. Place the device on a hard-wearing, smooth and flat surface.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect the device
immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
• Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not function any more and
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
• You should also heed the safety instructions in each chapter of these operating instructions
as well as in the operating instructions for connected devices.
• Never switch the device on immediately after having taken it from a cold to a warm environ-
ment. Condensation that forms might destroy your device under unfavourable conditions.
Allow the device to reach room temperature before switching it on.
• Do not place any vessels with liquids on the device.
• The power supply unit is not approved for use on humans or animals.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
LABORATORY POWER SUPPLY UNIT
ITEM NO. 1380494 LPS 1305
ITEM NO. 1380495 LPS 1153
INTENDED USE
The laboratory power supply unit serves as a potential-free DC voltage source to operate low-voltage
consumers. The devices are connected via 4 mm safety sockets at the front.
Sufficiently dimensioned connecting cables must be used. A conductor cross-section
that is too small can result in overheating and fire.
The output data of the laboratory measuring devices is as follows:
Type
Output voltage
Output current
LPS1305
0 - 30 V/DC
0 - 5 A
LPS1153
0 - 15 V/DC
0 - 3 A
The settings for current and voltage are made via stepless control knobs. Voltage settings are made via
coarse and fine controls in order to allow the fast and precise setting of values. The values are displayed
on two high-contrast LED displays. The current limit for constant current operation can be preset without a
jumper.
The device is overload and short-circuit-proof and contains a safety temperature cut-off.
Product design complies with the protection class 1. Only supply the product with a voltage from an
earthed standard mains socket connected to the public power grid. The mains socket must be near the
device and easily accessible, or an emergency stop device must be present.
Do not connect the outputs of several power supply units in parallel. This could result in dangerous contact
voltages developing or the device may be destroyed.
Operation in hazardous areas (Ex) or rooms with high humidity levels or under adverse ambient conditions
is not permitted. Adverse environmental conditions are:
- Dampness or excessive humidity
- Dust and combustible gases, vapours or solvents
- Thunderstorms or similar weather conditions such as strong electrostatic fields, etc.
Any use other than that described above can lead to damage to the product and may involve additional
risks such as short circuits, fire, electric shock etc. No part of the product may be modified or converted!
The safety instructions are to be observed without fail!
