SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Please read the entire manual before using the device as it contains
important information for proper operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to
observe these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for
any resulting damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury
caused by incorrect handling or non-compliance with the safety
instructions! The warranty/guarantee will be void in such cases.
This device has left our factory premises in a safe and perfect condition.
We kindly request the user to observe the safety instructions and warnings contained
in the enclosed operating instructions so this condition is maintained and to ensure
safe operation.
• For safety and approval reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications to the
product are not permitted.
• If you have doubts about how the device should be operated or how to connect it safely,
consult a trained technician.
• Measuring instruments and their accessories are not toys and should be kept out of the
reach of children!
• On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the industrial
workers’. society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
• Measurement instruments used at schools, training facilities, do-it-yourself and hobby
workshops should not be handled unless supervised by trained, responsible personnel.
• As the device generates heat when operating, ensure that it is adequately ventilated. Do
not cover the ventilation apertures!
• Take particular care when dealing with voltages exceeding 30 V/AC or 30 V/DC! Even at
these voltages, there is a danger of fatal electric shock if you touch electric conductors.
• To avoid electric shock, do not touch the connections/measuring points directly or indirectly
during measurements. During measuring, do not grip beyond the measuring leads range
markings on the test probes.
• Check the measuring device and its measuring leads for any damage before each meter-
ing. Never take any measurements if the protecting insulation is defective (torn, missing,
etc.). The measuring accessory may not be used anymore and must be replaced.
• Do not use the measuring device just before, while or shortly after a thunderstorm
(lightning!/ high-energy overvoltage!). Please make sure that your hands, your shoes, your
clothing, the floor, switches and switching components are dry.
• Do not use in the immediate vicinity of:
- strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields
- transmitting aerials or HF generators
- These can distort the measurement.
• If a safe operation can no longer be assumed, the device must be put out of operation and
secured against unintended operation. Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- does not function any longer and
- the instrument was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
• Never switch the device on immediately after having taken it from a cold to a warm environ-
ment. The condensation that forms might destroy your device. Allow the device to reach
room temperature before switching it on.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
• Please handle the product carefully. The product can be damaged if crushed, struck or
dropped, even from a low height.
• You should also heed the safety instructions in each chapter of these instructions.
Never exceed the maximum admissible input values. Never touch
circuits or parts of circuits when they may contain voltages greater than
30 V/ACrms or 30 V/DC! Risk of fatal injury!
Before making measurements, check the connected measuring leads for
damage such as cuts, cracks or pinches. Defective measuring cables
must no longer be used! Risk of fatal injury!
The tactile grip area markings on the measuring tips must not be used
for gripping during measurement.
Only the two measuring leads required for measuring operation may be
connected to the meter at any time. Remove all unnecessary measuring
leads from the device for safety reasons before taking a measurement.
Measurements in circuits >30 V/AC and >30 V/DC may be carried
out only by specialists and trained persons who are familiar with the
pertinent regulations and the resulting dangers.
Follow the necessary safety instructions, regulations and protective
measures for the intrinsic safety.
b) Maintenance
Regularly check on the technical safety of the device and the measuring leads, e.g., for dam-
age of the housing or kinks, etc.
c) Cleaning
• Live parts may be exposed, if you open covers or remove parts – unless you can do this by
hand.
• The connected lines must be disconnected from the measuring instrument and all measur-
ing objects prior to cleaning or repairing the device. Turn the DMM on.
d) Fuse replacement
• Always adhere carefully to the safety instructions, if you replace fuses!
• Make sure that only fuses of the type stated and rated current specified are used as a
replacement. Do not use incorrect or repaired fuses and do not bypass the fuse holder - this
could lead to a fire.
Never operate the device when it is open. !RISK OF FATAL INJURY!
e) Troubleshouting
Repairs other than those described in the operating instructions must only be carried out by
an authorised skilled person. If you have questions concerning the use of the device, please
contact our technical support team.
f) Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable materials and do not belong in the household
waste. Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statu-
tory regulations. That way you fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the
protection of the environment.
