Calling-up a saved radio station

For calling-up a saved station, select the respective frequency range (FM or MW) and the memory
level (1 or 2) by repeatedly pressing the button

4.2 Traffic announcement function
If the traffic announcement function is activated, all traffic announcements made by the "traffic
announcement station" are played during the running operation. The audio operation is interrupted for
the period of the announcement.
In no "traffic announcement station" can be received temporarily when the traffic announcement function
is activated, "NO TP, TA" is shown in the display.
You can activate or deactivate the traffic announcement function in the settings menu.

button pressed until the setting menu (SET ONVOL) appears in the display. Keep
pressing the

until "TA ON" or "TA OFF" is shown on the display. Turn the control
knob
for activating or deactivating the traffic announcement function. Save the settings by
pressing the
button again.
When the traffic announcement function is activated, traffic announcements are always played back
using the saved volume, irrelevant which volume is currently set. You can set the playback volume for
traffic announcements in the settings menu.

until "TA VOL 6...32" is shown on the display. Turn the control knob
to set the playback volume. Save the settings by pressing the
button again.
4.3 RDS (Radio Data System)
RDS (Radio Data System) is used to transfer the programme identification and additional services and,
amongst others, enables "automatic station tracking" with FM radio operation. The automatic station
tracking function makes sure that the radio station that belongs to the frequency that provides the best
possible reception is always changed automatically during the trip.
Automatic frequency change
By default, during the trip, the automatic station tracking function always changes to the frequency of
the radio station that currently provides the best possible reception. Under certain circumstances, this
may lead to a regional station being interrupted when, on the short or long-term, another radio station of
the set radio station provides better reception on another frequency.
You can activate or deactivate the automatic frequency change function in the settings menu.

Setting the program type
Program type (PTY) designates the assignment of the station according to categories, e.g. news, classic,
pop. If a program type is selected, stations of the respective type are selected or the function is
deactivated.

CD operation
5.1 Preventive measures with laser devices
Laser devices are classified in the safety classes 1-4 according to DIN IEC 76 (CO) 6/ VDE 0837.
The CD player of this device corresponds with safety class 1.
The laser used in class 1 devices is low-energy or is shielded so that there is no risk when used for its
intended purpose.
5.2 Tips for CD operation and in using the CDs
To be able to guarantee a trouble free and high quality CD playback, only use clean CDs that do not have
scratches or are damaged.
Pick the data carrier up on the sides. Avoid finger prints on the data carrier.
Use a soft, non-fluffy cloth to clean the CDs. In doing so, wipe the CD in straight lines from the middle
to the outside. Intensive dirt can be removed using a commercially available CD cleaner or removed
using isopropyl alcohol.
Beware!
●
Never use liquids such as petroleum, paint thinner or gramophone record cleaner otherwise damage
may be caused to the surface of the CD.
●
Use only standard 12 cm CDs. 8 cm single CDs and irregular shaped CDs (so-called "Shape CDs")
should not be inserted. They may damage the CD drive.
●
DVD-Plus, Dual Disc and Flip Discs are thicker than normal CDs and should also not be inserted.
●
Insert the CD into the CD slot up until the automatic loading draws it in.
●
Take care to insert the CD into the CD slot straight and right angled to the front of the device and to
remove it from the CD slot in the same way. If the CD jams, scratches could be caused that may make
the CD unusable.
●
Write on the data carrier only using a suitable CD pen. Writing material that is not suited may damage
the material.
●
Do not glue any labels or similar onto the data carrier as these may loosen, that will result in damage
being caused to the drive.
●
Do not expose the CD to heat or direct sun irradiation.
●
Always store unused CDs in a compartment intended for this purpose from the Volkswagen
accessory programme or in the original CD cover.
●
When removing the CD, take care that it does not fall down resulting in the surface being scratched.

Under certain circumstances, you may not be able to playback CDs with copy protection and self-
made CD-R and CD-RW CDs or the playback is limited.
●
Observe the legal guidelines for copyright that apply in your country.
CAUTION!
●
The CD player is a class 1 laser product. If you should open the CD player, there is a risk of
injuries caused by non-visible laser radiation.
●
The CD player is not fitted with any parts that you can maintain or repair. For this purpose,
refer only to a specialist company when a mechanical defect occurs or the CD player has to
be repaired.
