– Guide bleeder hose -1- from tool set for brake bleeding -VAS
6564- from inner side of rim through ratchet -2- and socket
-3- to bleeder valve and connect it to bleeder valve.
– Open bleeder valve and let appropriate quantity of brake fluid
run out (see table). Close bleeder valve. Torque: Running gear
→ Brake systems ⇒ Rep. gr. 47 → Repairing rear brake caliper.
– Fit again cover cap on bleeder valve of rear left brake caliper.
– Repeat procedure on rear right of vehicle.
Bleeding clutch slave cylinder
Note
Only for vehicles with manual gearbox.
– Remove complete air filter housing if it prevents access to
bleeder valve (-arrow- illustration below).
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 23 ; Air filter; Removing and installing air filter
housing
Or
– ⇒ Rep. gr. 24 ; Air filter; Removing and installing air filter
housing
– Remove dust cap from bleeder valve -arrow-.
– Connect bleeder hose to bleeder valve and to pressure hose
of fluid collector bottle.
If necessary, use bleeder hose (670 mm long) -V.A.G 1238/B3-
for bleeding.
– Open bleeder valve.
– Allow approx. 100 ml of brake fluid to flow out.
– Close bleeder valve.
– Rapidly operate clutch pedal from stop to stop 10 to 15 times.
– Open bleeder valve.
– Allow another 50 ml of brake fluid to flow out.
– Close bleeder valve and fit dust cap.

– Depress clutch pedal several times after completion of bleed‐
ing process.
– Reinstall air filter housing in reverse order.
– Set fill lever of brake filling and bleeding equipment -VAS
5234- to position “B” (see operating instructions).
– Remove filler hose from adapter.
– Unscrew adapter from brake fluid reservoir.
