Common rail TDI engines.
The combination of small displacement, turbocharging
and direct injection makes the TDI engines particularly efficient. Accurate injection
processes under high pressure ensure that fuel is burned evenly, resulting in high
performance at low fuel consumption. The efficiency of these engines is further sup-
ported by the low maintenance costs. Two 1.6 l TDI and three 2.0 l TDI engines are
available for the Caddy, and a 1.6 l TDI and three 2.0 l TDI engines for the Caddy Maxi.
TSI petrol engine.
A combination of
direct injection and turbocharging makes
the 1.2 l TSI engine more economical
and more powerful than other petrol
engines. It is available in two output
categories.
7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG)
(not illustrated). This changes gear fully
automatically without interruption
of pulling power and is available for the
1.6 l TDI engine with 75 kW
1)
. A 6-speed
dual clutch gearbox is supplied as
standard for the 125 kW engine
2)
and as
an option for the 103 kW engine
3)
.
The 103 kW version is available with
4MOTION all-wheel drive in conjunction
with a dual clutch gearbox.
Engines, running gear and transmission.
The Caddy demonstrates our conviction that innovations should be made as widely
available as possible. Technologies such as small displacement engines with
turbocharging or a dual clutch automatic gearbox (DSG) are considered to have
groundbreaking efficiency, comfort and dynamics. This may be unusual for a
car in this category – but is a matter of course for a Volkswagen.
4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Should
a wheel lose traction, 4MOTION inter-
venes immediately. Power is directed
away from the wheel so that the other
wheels briefly take over its function
and, as a result, wheelspin is avoided.
Hill Start Assist
(not illustrated). This
prevents the vehicle from rolling back
on inclines, making it easier to start off
on uphill slopes. Hill Start Assist is
standard on the Caddy 4MOTION, the
Caddy with BlueMotion Technology
and all Caddy models with a dual clutch
gearbox (DSG).
Start/stop system.
This helps you to
drive economically. After you have
shifted into neutral at red traffic lights,
the system switches the engine off
automatically and starts it again as
soon as the journey is continued.
Cruise control.
As of a speed of 30 km/h
cruise control keeps the speed at the
level set by you. You can take your foot
off the accelerator pedal and the
even speed lowers fuel consumption.
BlueMotion Technology package.
This includes a start/stop system, regenerative
braking, low-friction tyres and targeted aerodynamic optimisation. The Caddy with
BlueMotion Technology therefore saves an average of 0.5 litres of fuel per 100 km
in comparison with a similarly equipped Caddy without BlueMotion Technology, and
lowers CO
2
emissions by up to 13 g/km. All engines including diesel particulate filter
available for the Caddy can be selected – with the exception of the EcoFuel and BiFuel
engines and 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

local Volkswagen dealer for details of the standard equipment and optional extras applicable in your country.
Caddy with BlueMotion Technology.
Wherever your journey takes you – you will always have a good feeling about driving
the Caddy with BlueMotion Technology. A comprehensive technology package avail-
able as an option for every trim level contributes towards a noticeable reduction in fuel
consumption and CO
2
emissions – without forfeiting comfort in any way. The Caddy
with a 1.6 l TDI engine and 75 kW
4)
, for example, has an average fuel-consumption of just
5.1 litres per 100 km and reduces the combined CO
2
emissions to low 134 g/km.
