1. Memory Bank switch: By turning this knob one, of the six memory banks can be selected for
general and particular (Jubilate 235) memories.
2. Transposer selector: This section contains the transposer knob which can be used to shift the
instrument tuning 2 semitones higher or 3 semitones lower. Transposing the instrument tuning
makes it easier to play in “difficult” keys and makes accompanying a singer or other solo instrument
much easier, avoiding the need for laborious musical transpositions.
3. Temperament selector: This control offers the organist, interested in recreating authentic ancient
music, a series of historical temperaments from different musical periods and of various national
origin. It is possible to set a normal temperament with some micro false note to simulate the unperfect
intonation of the organ’s pipe cause the usury with the time and temperature (EQUAL1) or another
normal temperament perfectly intonated (EQUAL2) or the classic KIRNBERGER,
WERCKMEISTER, PYTHAGOREAN, MEANTONE, VALLOTTI tunings.
The listener accustomed to the uniform nature of modern equal temperament is surprised and
sometimes dismayed when faced with the irregularities and the tension of certain tunings together
with the unusual euphoria and pleasing sounds of others.
The variety, marked sound colourings and the sense of tonal identity that these temperaments confer
upon the musical works of ancient composers will help the musician to understand more fully their
expressive significance and to gain insight into the mechanics of the compositional process itself.
Of course, use of these temperaments must be accompanied by an appropriate understanding of
their historical context and a stylistic coherence with the period in which the composer was writing.
