FINAL ASSEMBLY
1) If you want to draw on the control surfaces, do so
now using a fine marker or strips of black paper
referring to the chain dashed lines on the plan.
2) Identify the inter plane struts IS1 and IS2 (2 off
each). Round off the leading and trailing edges
of each part.
3) If you want to cover, paint or varnish bare
wooden parts such as the wheels/struts, etc. do
so now. This is much easier when the parts are
not fitted to the model.
4) Glue the oil tank in position on the left side of
the fuselage.
5) Assemble the propeller to the nose block using
the wire hook as shown on the plan, making the
shaft as short as possible.
6) Glue the ‘chin’ piece to the front of the fuselage,
checking that the nose block can be hooked in
place and that the angled face of the chin piece
holds the bottom of the nose block securely and
prevents it from lifting.
7) Make slits in the tissue at the positions where
the F3A and F5 stiffeners are i.e. where the
undercarriage wire and ‘strap’ will fit. Fit the strap
into the slot and secure with epoxy. Leave to it set.
8) Using epoxy, fit the struts up into the corners
formed by the F3A strengthener and the
fuselage sides. Bind the opposite ends to the
main gear unit as shown on the plan.
9) Add the U/C fairings to the struts and main gear
using parts
LG
as shown on the plan.
10) For both sets of wings, cut away the tissue
around the points where the cabane and inter
plane struts will fit and then glue the wings in
position using the decalage jigs following the
instructions on the plan.
11) Glue the tail plane in position, making sure it
is square, true and in line with the wings. Cut
the two tail plane struts from 1.6mm square
strip, round the edges and glue them in place
referring to plan for the positions where they fit
to the fuselage and the tail plane.
