8) For both parts U, fold all of the tissue edges
back on themselves and glue to the rear of
the part to hide the wide edges of the paper.
Fit them to the fuselage using a glue stick and
PVA at the edges. Make sure that the edge that
meets the struts and the angled ‘tab’ are neat
– the top edge that meets the stringer will be
covered by part V later.
9) For paper part V, fold all of the tissue edges
back as before
apart from
the long tab at the
front – leave this sticking out. Then fit it in
position, dampen the long tissue tab at the front
and then use thinned PVA to smooth and secure
it over the nose.
10) Fit paper part W last having first folded and
glued all of the tissue edges back.
11) Allow all of the paper parts added so far to dry.
12) Now add the engine cover ‘cheeks’. Trace paper
patterns X and Y onto standard printer paper
(80gsm) following the solid lines.
13) Follow the same procedure as for previous parts,
folding the tissue edges back only on the rear
edge and the radius on part X only.
14) Start with part X, which fits on the left hand side –
i.e. the view shown on the plan. Attach the part to
the lower and front edges of the nose by folding
the tissue flaps underneath and round the front
respectively and gluing them with thinned PVA –
just glue the tissue flaps and not the paper. Allow
the glue to set completely then attach the top
edge again just by the tissue flap. The part should
now naturally flare out at the rear.
15) Repeat for part Y on the right hand side. Note
that it doesn’t flare out quite as much as part X.
