Setting the End-of-Line Jumpers JP1, JP2 & JP3 for RS-485 Protocol
Operation
This section defines setting the
End-of-Line Jumpers JP1, JP2
and JP3. The jumper sockets are
located on the underside of the
Communications/Power Supply
PC Board as shown in Figure 30.
If a single axial-leaded jumper is
found, proceed to the Alternate
Jumper Configuration sub-section.
NOTE: DIP Switch 2 (S2) switch 4 must be set to the ON position for proper daisy chain operation. The End-
of-Line jumpers do not affect RS-422 mode.
NOTE: 32 units maximum can be daisy chained. With the alternate jumper configuration, a maximum of 16
units can be daisy chained.
The 3 jumpers are included with each Surveyor1000. There are 2 possible configurations as follows:
Jumpers Installed:
For one Camera Dome or the last in line of a daisy chain using RS-485 protocol only.
Jumpers Uninstalled:
For all intermediate Camera Domes in a daisy chain using RS-485 protocol only.
1. Uninstall the Surveyor1000 to access the jumper sockets. Refer to the “Uninstalling the Surveyor1000”
section of this manual.
2. Install all 3 jumpers by pushing them over the 2 pins for each socket on a Surveyor1000 which is the only
unit in a daisy chain or the last in line of a daisy chain.
3. Reassemble the Surveyor1000 and proceed to the Operation section of this Manual for functional testing.
Refer to the “Installation” Section of this manual.
Alternate Jumper Configuration
If, when uninstalling a Surveyor1000, a single axial leaded jumper, labeled JP1 is found, follow the
proceeding steps to properly terminate the Surveyor1000 for daisy chaining in RS-485 mode.
For an intermediate (first or middle unit in the daisy chain) Surveyor1000, remove the jumper as follows:
1. Remove the Camera Drive from the Enclosure.
2. With the Drive hanging from the Safety Cord, locate jumper JP1. It is a soldered, axial leaded
component that resembles an 1/8 watt resistor. Cut one side of the jumper and lift it slightly.
3. Reassemble
the
Surveyor1000.
For a last Surveyor1000 in the chain, leave the jumper as is.
1. Set S2, switch 4, to the ON, or RS-485, position.
2. Set S1 to a unique address in the chain of Surveyor1000s.
