From Above the Ceiling (access
to the space above)
The ceiling hole is marked with the scribe
and cut. The Enclosure is then lifted up
through ceiling hole and the Flipper
Screws are turned and tightened against
the ceiling. The Enclosure’s Top Cover is
removed and the Surveyor1000 is wired
and configured from above the ceiling.
The Top Cover is replaced and the Indoor
Lower Dome is then snapped on. The
Surveyor1000 is secured with the
Flippers. Refer to Figure 8 for installation
details.
The Accessory Kit containing the RJ-45 to
RJ-45 8 foot (2.4 m) cable and RJ-45
Termination Box can be used in this
installation for the 4 alarms or relay. Since
there is access above the ceiling and the
supplied cable is limited to 8 feet (2.4 m),
the Termination Box must be mounted
while wiring and configuring the
Surveyor1000. Refer to Figure 6 for an
example of using the supplied cable and
Termination Box in this situation. Detailed
installation instructions will follow.
The ceiling material must provide a
surface of suitable strength for the
Surveyor1000 weight of 4.5 lb (2.0 kg) on
the area of the two Flippers. Refer to the
Optional Independent Support
sub-section
for installations requiring additional
support.
1. Mark, with the scribe, and cut a 7-3/8-inch (187 mm ) diameter hole in ceiling at the desired Surveyor1000
location. Feed the necessary Flexible Conduit Pipe or cables down through the hole.
2. Lift Enclosure up through ceiling hole, turn and tighten Flipper Screws.
3. Working above the ceiling, remove the Enclosure Top Cover by loosening the 3 Screws and lifting it off.
4. If cables are used without the use of Flexible Conduit:
a) Remove the Conduit Fitting by loosening the Nut and sliding it out. Install the supplied Strain Relief
Fitting in its place.
b) Route approximately 9 inches (229 mm) of cables through the Strain Relief Fitting. Tighten the 2
Strain Relief Fitting screws to compress the cables. Over-tightening the screws could crush cables.
