California Proposition 65
California Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe
Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, was
enacted in November 1986 with the aim of protecting
individuals in the state of California and the state’s
drinking water and environment from excessive exposure
to chemicals known to the state to cause cancer, birth
defects or other reproductive harm.
