NSPECTION
OF
PTO B
ELT
Periodically checking the PTO belt (A) of this power
unit can prevent sudden failure by
fi
nding problems
before they cause the belt to break. It is recom-
mended to inspect the PTO belt every 50 hours of
operation, or if a problem is suspected. There may
be a PTO belt problem if there is a squealing or
chattering sound, or the smell of a slipping belt.
1. Park power unit on a level surface.
2. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
3. Remove ignition key from switch.

belt may result in the
following conditions as
shown at right. If any of
these conditions occur,
then the belt will require
replacement.

EPLACEMENT
1. Park power unit on a level surface.
2. Engage parking brake and shut off engine.
3. Remove ignition key from switch and allow en-
gine to cool.
4. Open engine hood.
5. Rotate the belt tension lever down to release
tension on the PTO belt.
6. Lift up on the PTO idler pulley and remove the
belt from the pulley.
7. Pull belt up between the power unit cross frame
and the clutch to remove.
8. Push the new belt down between the frame and
clutch.
9. Install the belt onto the clutch pulley.
10. Lift up on the PTO idler pulley and install the belt
into the rear groove of the idler pulley.
11. Close engine hood.
